7 Must-Watch Movies Coming Out in September 2023
Here are the movie releases to have on your radar this September.

As we head into the fourth quarter of the year, we’re seeing some long-in-development projects see the light of day. From sequels and horror entries to sci-fi epics and action follow-ups, there’s a lot to enjoy this September. We’ve rounded out the most-anticipated releases that you need to mark on your calendars.
The Equalizer 3: The Final Chapter
Release date: 1 September 2023
Denzel Washington’s subtle but brutal Equalizer movies have found quite the audience since the first film released back in 2014, and the third and final instalment arrives this September. Washington returns as former government assassin Robert McCall, who struggles to reconcile the horrific things he’s done in the past, but finds a strange solace in serving justice on behalf of the oppressed, this time taking on the Italian mafia. The cast also sees the introduction of Dakota Fanning, who Washington shared the screen with in 2004’s Man on Fire.
The Nun 2
Release date: 8 September 2023
For those who love The Conjuring universe, there’s another spin-off arriving this September; this time a sequel to 2018’s The Nun. Set four years after the ending of the first film, The Nun II follows Sister Irene (played by Taissa Farmiga) as she once again comes face to face with the demonic force Valak, the Nun at a boarding school in France. Michael Chaves is the director with James Wan on board as producer.
A Haunting in Venice
Release date: 15 September 2023
Following up from Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile, the next entry into the Hercule Poirot mystery franchise sees Kenneth Brannagh reprise his role as the famed detective as he has to solve a more supernatural mystery this time around. Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Jamie Dornan, and Tina Fey also star.
Talk to Me
Release date: 15 September 2023
Talk to Me was released in the US a little while ago and picked up quite the fan-base upon release. It follows a group of friends who discover how to conjure spirits using an embalmed hand, and they become hooked on the new thrill. Of course, one of them goes too far and opens the door to the spirit world forcing them to choose who to trust: the dead or the living.
Expendables 4
Release date: 22 September 2023
The action hero misfits who save the world are back, as Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, and Co. are joined by newcomers Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, and Andy Garcia for another explosive round of retro-inspired action.
The Creator
Release date: 29 September 2023
John David Washington (Tenet) heads up this film about a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence. It follows Joshua, a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife, who is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced artificial intelligence. It also stars Gemma Chan, Ken Watanabe, and Sturgill Simpson.
Saw X
Release date: 29 September 2023
Yup, a tenth saw film is on the cards for September, and one which acts as a ‘midquel’ falling between the first and second movies in the franchise. Tobin Bell is back as John Kramer, aka Jigsaw, alongside Shawnee Smith, who played Amanda in the first three Saw movies (she also appeared in archive footage in the other instalments).
