80’s video game adaption, Rampage, gets a writer
Rampage film adaption makes headway in production.
New Line Cinema has hired a screenwriter to adapt the 1980s video game Rampage into a feature film for them.
The Hollywood Reporter says development exec-turned-screenwriter Ryan Engle has landed the gig. “Rampage is a priority for New Line, which is hoping to make an Independence Day-style picture on a smart budget,” according to the trade.
John Rickard (Final Destination, Horrible Bosses) is producing.
The story of the old game of Rampage followed three normal humans who were mutated into giant monsters — a werewolf, a Godzilla-style reptile, and a gorilla — and went on a rampage against the military and skyscrapers.
