Those looking for a laugh this weekend are in for a serious treat, as there’s three big comedies hitting cinemas this weekend, and to give you a breakdown of what’s releasing this Friday, 13 May, here’s our rundown of the big-screen arrivals:

The Angry Birds Movie

After taking over the mobile gaming world, the Angry Birds are being catapulted onto the big-screen this week. Jason Sudeikis, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad, and Bill Hader lend their voices to the movie, which sees an island of flightless birds who are forced to question the motives of a race of green piggies after they learn of their imminent arrival. Red, Chuck and Bomb, three unlikely outcasts, take it upon themselves to investigate the evil plans of Leonard, the King Pig, and his cronies… unlocking the reason they’re called ‘The Angry Birds’.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Tina Fey leads this offbeat comedy about a war correspondent who is sent to Afghanistan and Pakistan during ‘Operation Enduring Freedom’. The movie takes a tongue-in-cheek look at her experiences in covering the absurdities and tragedies of the “forgotten war”, as well as her tumultuous relationship she developed with fellow Scottish journalist, Ian McKelpie.

The Perfect Match

If you’re looking for and romantic comedy this weekend, The Perfect Match is the new release to tick that box. The film follows playboy named Charlie (Terrence Jenkins), convinced that all his relationships are dead, meets the beautiful and mysterious Eva. Agreeing to a casual affair, Charlie then wants a bit more from their relationship.
