This week’s movie releases have a little bit of everything – some high-octane thrills, action-packed explosions, and some intrigue to keep you on your toes. We take a closer-look at the movies you can watch this weekend:

Money Monster

Release date: 3 June 2016

Starring the talents of George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Jack O’Connell, and Dominic West, Money Monster tells the story of an irate investor (O’Connell) who takes financial television show host Lee Gates (Clooney) hostage live on air as the world watches on, in an attempt to uncover the big-money lies, deceit, and underhandedness of the finance industry. We got the chance to see the movie and were blown away. If you loved Phonebooth, The Negotiator, or Inside Man, this is a must-watch.

Hardcore Henry

Release date: 3 June 2016

Hardcore Henry, which stars South African actor Shartlo Copely (District 9, Elysium), is an action film heavily inspired by video games and old-school action, being told from a first person perspective, putting you, the viewer, in the shoes of the hero. It picks up as you’re brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett). She tells you that your name is Henry. Five minutes later, you are being shot at, your wife has been kidnapped by an evil warlord. Quite a simple premise, but the film looks spectacular and has a lot of twists and turns in store for audiences.

A Bigger Splash

Release date: 3 June 2016

Dakota Johnson, Matthias Schoenaerts, Tilda Swinton, and Ralph Fiennes star in this drama that follows a dangerous game of jealousy, passion and intrigue. It follows Marianne and Paul, a high profile couple, recovering by way of an idyllic holiday on the remote island of Pantelleria, Italy, before they are disrupted by the unexpected arrival of Harry and Penelope, an old friend and his daughter. Things get a little tense when old feelings and pasts begin emerging.
