The Walt Disney Company has revealed that it expects a $200 million operating loss on John Carter.

Deadline reports that the Andrew Stanton film has only managed to pull in $184 million at the global box office. The film had an estimated $250 million budget, and that excludes the tens of millions more spent on advertising. As a result, Disney expects that the studio division will have an overall operating loss of between $80 and $120 million for the second fiscal quarter.

Nevertheless, the Mouse House remains optimistic about the back half of their year with upcoming releases like The Avengers and Brave, which they believe have “tremendous potential to drive value for the studio and the rest of the company.”
