Jared Leto Responds To Rumours Of Playing The Joker

Is Jared Leto playing The Joker in DC’s Suicide Squad movie? The question has been put to the man himself…

One of the most interesting movie rumours floating around is that the DC Comics villain, The Joker, would be making his big-screen return in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, and what’s more interesting is that there are whispers that Oscar-winner Jared Leto may be taking on the role.

The role hasn’t been touched in cinema since the late Heath Ledger’s memorable take on it in The Dark Knight, and it’s understandable following that portrayal that it’d take a while before anyone else took it on.

Whoever takes on the role will presumably be signing up for the requisite multiple movies that a commitment to a major comic book movie character now demands, and with Leto’s name as a frontrunner, The Hollywood Report asked the actor directly if he’d been offered the role.

His simple answer: “I’ve sworn to keep my mouth shut”.

Sworn to who, though? And, well, it’s not a no, is it? Already Suicide Squad has a cast that’s reported to include Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie and Jesse Eisenberg.
