9 Most Anticipated Movies of April 2017
What are the movies to keep on your radar this month?
On the movie front, 2017 has already been extremely kind to us. Not only have we been treated to the sublime Logan, but we’ve also enjoyed Lego Batman, Kong: Skull Island, and the surprisingly robust Power Rangers reboot. But April is here and there’s a whole lot more to look forward to. So without further ado, here are the 9 movies we can’t wait to see this month.
The Boss Baby
Release date: 7 April 2017
OK, most animations can be either hit or miss, but this one comes from Tom McGrath, the director behind the Madagascar films (and who also wrote the hilarious spin-off, Penguins of Madagascar). Alex Baldwin, ViviAnn Yee, Steve Buscemi, Patton Oswalt, Jimmy Kimmel, and Lisa Kudrow all lend their voices to this story of how a most unusual new baby’s arrival impacts a family, told from the point of view of a delightfully unreliable narrator — wildly imaginative 7-year-old Tim. With a sly, heart-filled message about the importance of family, this is an authentic and broadly appealing original comedy for all ages.
Gold
Release date: 7 April 2017
Matthew McConaughey looks to be delivering another stellar performance of his career in Gold. The film, which also stars Edgar Ramírez, Toby Kebbell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Corey Stoll, and Toby Kebbell, follows Kenny Wells, a prospector desperate for a lucky break, who teams up with a similarly eager geologist to find gold in the uncharted jungle of Indonesia. Getting the gold was difficult, but keeping it will be even harder, sparking an adventure through the most powerful boardrooms of Wall Street.

Beauty and the The Beast
Release date: 13 April
Disney’s latest jump from animation to live-action is that of Beauty and the Beast, which is led by Emma Watson and Dan Stevens. If you’ve never seen the original (where have you been?), it follows the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in the beast’s castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realise the kind heart of the true Prince within.
Fast & Furious 8
Release date: 14 April
The Fast & Furious franchise isn’t slowing down anytime soon, and the long-running series sees its eighth release this month. Vin Diesel is back to head up the film, with Tyrese Gibson, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Kurt Russell, and Jason Statham all reprising their respective roles. Clint Eastwood’s son, Scott Eastwood, has also been added to the cast, and Charlize Theron is playing the new villain in the movie. When a mysterious woman (Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime, he can’t seem to escape and into the betrayal of those closest to him, the team will face trials that will test them as never before.
