4 Biggest Movies Releasing in SA this Weekend
We take a look at the big movie releases hitting cinemas across SA.
This weekend gives movie-goers a number of new films that will deliver mystery, thrills, scares, and laughs, depending on what you’re in the mood for, of course. Here’s our picks for movies releasing Friday, 11 November 2016:
The Arrival
Release date: 11 November 2016
Director Dennis Villeneuve, who helmed Sicario and the incredibly underrated Prisoners, steps behind the camera once again for The Arrival, which shifts his grounded film-making style to a sci-fi setting. Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner star in this mysterious film about aliens making contact with Earth, and what exactly they’re here for. The trailer exhibits just the right amount of creepiness, tension, wonder, and anticipation, and we can’t wait to see this one when it touches down later this year.
Shut In
Release date: 11 November 2016
This intense thriller starring Naomi Watts is as creepy and unnerving as they come. Following a recent accident that took the life of her husband and left her son paralyzed, a female psychologist (Watts) finds herself isolated in her own home caring for her child. Cut off from the outside world during a deadly storm, she starts to believe someone is inside her house trying to harm them.
Desierto
Release date: 11 November 2016
The brilliant talents of Gael García Bernal, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Alondra Hidalgo star in this intense thriller which follows the story of a group of unarmed men and women, who, while crossing the treacherous U.S.-Mexican border, end up in a harrowing, primal fight for survival when a deranged, rifle-toting vigilante chases them. In the harsh, unforgiving desert terrain, the odds are stacked firmly against the group as they continuously discover there’s nowhere to hide from the unrelenting, merciless killer.
Storks

Now, storks are used to deliver packages for a global internet giant. Junior, the company’s top delivery stork, is about to be promoted when he accidentally activates the Baby Making Machine, producing an adorable and wholly unauthorised baby girl. Desperate to deliver this bundle of trouble before the boss gets wise, Junior and his friend Tulip, the only human on Stork Mountain, race to make their first ever baby drop in a wild and revealing journey that could make more than one family whole and restore the storks’ true mission in the world.
