The remainder of 2022 sees a lot of big movies on the horizon, such as the likes of Avatar 2 and Black Adam, but there are some other exciting releases that deserve a little more attention. So, to avoid anything slipping under the radar, check out these 5 movies heading your way in 2022:
Bullet Train
Release date: 5 August 2022
Bullet Train is Brad Pitt’s next big starring action spectacle, and follows 5 assassins who find themselves on a Japanese bullet train, realising that their individual assignments are all interconnected. Alongside Pitt is Joey King, Andrew Koji (Warrior, Snake Eyes), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kickass, Godzilla), and Brian Tyree Henry. It’s directed by Deadpool and Hobbs & Shaw director David Leitch, so expect an explosive affair.
Beast
Release date: 12 August 2022
After a long wait, we finally get a new creature-feature this year, this time revolving around a man-eating lion. Beast stars Idris Elba as Dr. Nate Daniels, who travels to South Africa with his daughters to reconnect with his children. But what begins as a journey of healing jolts into a fearsome fight for survival when an apex predator, a survivor of blood-thirsty poachers who now sees all humans as the enemy, begins stalking them.

Jordan Peele’s brand of offbeat horror and social commentary has generated quite the audience, with the likes of Get Out and Us being breakout hits. His latest, Nope, looks to venture into the extraterrestrial, as a small town has to deal with the arrival of some new guests. The film stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yuen.
Dragon Ball Super: Superhero
Release date: 19 August 2022
While it may seem almost unreal, a new Dragon Ball movie is on the cards, and one which is hitting cinemas this August. Dragon Ball Super: Superhero picks up years after Dragon Ball Z, and sees the Red Ribbon Army (once destroyed by Goku) being resurrected by evil forces, who create the ultimate Androids: “Gamma 1” and “Gamma 2.” While these androids call themselves “super heroes”, they end up going after Piccolo, Gohan, and the rest of the Dragon Ball fighters. The screenplay was written by original Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama.
The Invitation

This mysterious horror-thriller stars Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays Evie, a young woman who, after the death of her mother, is invited to a lavish wedding in the English countryside by her long-lost relatives. At first, she’s seduced by the handsome aristocrat host, Walter, but is soon thrust into a nightmare of survival as she uncovers twisted secrets in her familyʼs history and the unsettling intentions behind their sinful generosity.
