New Chappie Trailer Arrives, Features South African Police Robots
Check out the second trailer for SA director Neill Blomkamp’s next big film, Chappie…
The second full trailer for Neill Blomkamp’s upcoming sci-fi flick, Chappie, has dropped, and this time it highlights a lot of the action that the film has to offer.
The film stars Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, Sharlto Copley, Sigourney Weaver, and Ninja and Yolandi Visser from Die Antwoord.
The film is the long-in-production work from the South African-born director, who has helmed other standout movies such as as District 9 and Elysium.
Chappie, an expansion of Blomkamp’s 2003 short, Tetra Vaal, which features a story with a blackly comic tone to it: Chappie is a childlike robot kidnapped by a family of career criminals, and ends up accompanying them on their law-breaking exploits.
Blomkamp’s regular collaborator Sharlto Copley will play Chappie (he did performance capture for the role, Andy Serkis-style), and he’ll be joined by the eclectic cast mentioned above, who are packed full of talent. Well, Ninja and Yolandi’s acting is yet to be seen…
Chappie is out in cinemas in March 2015.

Ya, skeptical on Die Antwoord’s acting prowess, but the film itself looks so awesome, and the fact it’s in SA is even better.
