Samuel L Jackson On Why Marvel Is Better Than DC

Samuel L Jackson is never one to shy away from being honest, and the beloved actor has recently expressed why he thinks the Marvel formula is working and why DC will struggle to replicate it.

Speaking with MTV, Jackson, who plays Nick Fury in multiple movies in the Marvel cinematic universe, said that the Disney-owned comic and film company has the right approach to making crossover movies.

“I think Marvel has figured out a way to make those movies accessible to the public … DC hasn’t”, said Jackson.

The Marvel universe is huge. There’s thousands of characers that they can access and do stuff with … it’s been that way since we started reading comic books. Most of us that understand the comic book world know that you can crossbreed and do all kinds of stuff”.

Jackson furthermore argued that the casting of certain actors and actresses in Marvel films have lent the films an extra something. “They actually did a great job bringing a guy like [Robert] Redford in, which turned up the legitimacy factor in a very interesting way, and made [Captain America: The Winter Soldier] a serious movie along with the popcorn and bubblegum stuff we do”.

As for DC? “I don’t know what it is. I don’t know why you can’t get Batman and Superman together and have people as juiced up to be a part of that”.

Jackson will next be seen in the Marvel cinematic universe as part of Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
