Watch the First Trailer for Sony’s Upcoming Animated Spider-Man Film
Spider-Man’s animated universe expands with Sony’s new movie.
In many people’s minds the name ‘Peter Parker’ is synonymous with Spider-Man. What some fans may not know is that throughout Spider-Man’s distinguished comic book and animation career, there have been a number of people who’ve donned the web-slinger’s mask. This new movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, aims to play on that idea and has just released its first teaser trailer.
The first notable aspect is the modern and stylised animation, but most significantly, after watching the length of the trailer, we get a glimpse at a young teen under the mask: Miles Morales. He’s a popular character to wear the suit and take on the moniker of Spider-Man (the same way Peter did).
Miles Morales subsequently takes up the mantle, but intriguingly at the end of the trailer, we see Morales ask the question “How many of us are there?” to a figure in the shadows, implying that we’re going to get a few members of the web-slinging family in this story. The story arc of Parker’s death at the hands of the Green Goblin is confirmed in the trailer too, as we see Morales staring at a gravestone.
We’ll have to wait it out a little longer to get more details on the plot elements, but so far the visuals look promising and we’ll be seeing a few potential Spideys join forces. If you’re a fan of the web-head, which iteration of the character is your favourite and who do you hope to see in this new movie? Let us know!
