Adam Yauch Passes Away At 47

Founding member of the influential rap group The Beastie Boys, Adam “MCA” Yauch has passed away after a long battle with cancer. Yauch was diagnosed with cancer of the preaortic gland and lymph node in July 2009, and had been fighting the disease ever since.

Noted for his broad scope of talents, on top of being a rapper Yauch also launched the film production company Oscilloscope Laboratories and was a key activist in the Free Tibet campaign and was heavily involved in the free Tibet movement, co-organising the Tibetan Freedom Concerts in the late ’90s.

He will be sorely missed, the brightest stars seem to burn-out the quickest. RIP Adam “MCA” Yauch.
