Have The Gorillaz Broken Up?

In a recent interview Damon Albarn, the creative mastermind behind alt/electronic group Gorillaz, stated that is would be “unlikely” that the group would produce any new material in the future. No specific reasons where given however, disagreements between long-time Gorillaz collaborator, artist Jamie Hewlett, are likely to be at the core.
When asked whether the band was over or not, Albarn had this to say:
Jamie does, which is fair enough. I think we were at cross purposes somewhat on that last record, which is a shame. So until a time comes when that knot has been untied….It was one of those things. The music and the videos weren’t working as well together, but I felt we’d made a really good record, and I was into it. So we went and played it. Have we fallen out over that since then? Erm… well, that sounds very juvenile, doesn’t it? But being juvenile about it, it happens. It’s a shame.
If the Gorillaz really have broken-up, it’s a very sad day for music. The Gorillaz are (were?) a group that pushed their own artistic limits with each and every new song – never doing the same thing twice and always keeping their music fresh and interesting.
Gorillaz, please don’t leave.

I want to ‘congratulate’ Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett for letting such a unique and beautiful project of art and unique music of 15 years go down like it was a bunch of nothing. And I want to ‘congratulate’ them even more because they are letting their disagreements destroy such a beautiful project, leaving it unfinished, while it has SO many fans all over the world.
I laugh right now, because I was wondering what phase 4 would be like! I wondered what would they prepare for us fans this year!
Thank you for destroying my day too. 🙂
A loyal fan of Gorillaz for the last 9 years, which wishes that Mr. Albarn and Mr. Hewlett will overcome those stupid disagreements, forget it and start making Gorillaz music again. Because we love them and if they leave…the music world will be so f***ed up,indeed.
Gorillaz, please don’t leave us!!!
