John Mayer has happily stated that he will be releasing his new album Born and Raised on 22 May despite his recent health issues.

The blues/pop mastermind recently had surgery on a granuloma, a type of growth on his tonsils in October of 2011. In a scary moment of Déjà vu, the malignancy recurred a few months ago, forcing Mayer cancel his 21-date spring tour.

Although he is still not yet able to perform, People magazine has reported that he is excited about releasing his new album Born and Raised regardless.

During his recovery stage Mayer is unable to sing and has been focusing on writing new material and will possibly be getting back into the studio soon.

‘I’ve been thinking I’ll record in July and August. I’m already writing ‘ I’ve got nothing else to do,’ he shared. ‘Whether or not I can sing, there’s a way I can see the world right now that I won’t again. And if you’re a writer, you write the way you can see the world at that moment.
