New South African Pop Duo… The Soap Girls
Local ladies make their mark, but deja-vu is kicking in…

Looks like the South African music scene is getting bigger by the week, the newest buzz coming from Hout Bay based pop duo, The Soap Girls.
Their new video for their single Hurricane can be accessed via the link (they wouldn’t let me embed the video).
The track is…… interesting, and is probably going to be massive in Japan, but to give an honest opinion, all I hear is a collection of melodies and hooks that have been repeated in past (good) pop tunes. Listen to the chorus where the girls sing “hurricane, hurricane,” then listen to it again and sing (in your head or aloud) “can’t read my, cant read my (no you can’t read my poker face),” and you’ll see exactly what I’m going on about.

Arrrgh what a load of….I saw these girls performing live at Gay Pride CapeTown and they are incredible I mean truly incredible performers and they can sing!They are an asset to SA music scene and Im sure they will go from strength to strength!
