Blackberry Passport

Blackberry is yet to officially unveil its square-shaped Passport device, but its likely that the phone will hit SA along with other territories soon.

It appears that a number of devices are already in circulation in South Africa as a testing phase. The device features a 4.5-inch screen and full physical qwerty keyboard.

The unusual screen shape is designed with the business-savvy in mind. Spreadsheets, documents and larger images are easier to see and read, without having to turn the device sideways or adjust the zoom.

The screen is set to have a resolution of 1440×1440 pixels and offer a pixel density of 453ppi. Other than the screen information, the company has not shared any more details of the device.

Other rumoured innards of the BlackBerry Passport include 3GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 3450mAh battery.

Blackberry have sent out invitations for an event to be held on Wednesday, 24 September, which is likely to be when the company will unveil the device and all the relative details.

It’s annoying because it looks super interesting and is perfect for what I use my phone for (viewing images and pdf’s) but in my heart I know that it’s a blackberry. What have they done to fix the glitches and faults? You can’t have a phone that you constantly need to reboot.

what device are you currently using? i’ve been using blackberries for the last 4 or 5 years (all versions of the Bold) but have been let down with them. I’ve also got an ipad mini and am thinking about moving over to the iPhone 6.
