You might remember the story we posted on 20-year-old Obed Karwhin. The African refugee fled from his home in Ivory Coast, amidst wars and violence, for a better life in Australia.

He is a talented athlete and his story was one worth hearing and admiring. Following up from his recruiting into rugby league side, the West Tigers, Karwhin has gotten off to a flying start, scoring a hat-trick in his first game.

Karwhin has now scored in every game that he has played this year, since debuting in Round 4, and is the Club’s leading try-scorer in NYC with eight tries in four games.

It’s a great sign that Africa is producing some talented athletes that can excel in many different sports.
