We’ve run out of adjectives to appropriately describe Messi, but it’s safe to say that he’s been back at his impeccable best this past season. Sunday evening saw Messi’s first-place Barcelona side take on second place Atletico Madrid, who could’ve gone two points away from the summit if they had beaten Barcelona.

He does this so frequently it barely feels special, but considering the pressure to get all three points Messi’s composure is all the more impressive.

This gives Barcelona in a comfortable 8-point lead in La Liga, with nine matches left to play. With that healthy buffer in the league, the team is likely to turn their attention to the Champions League, where they’re favourites among other sides like PSG, Real Madrid, and Manchester City.
