Betting Options for Football: What Options Are There?
What are the various ways to hedge your bets in the sporting world?
Before diving into the world of sports betting, it’s in your best interest to be aware of the betting options available before placing a few bucks on that coveted Manchester United game or a big rugby encounter; but we’ve got some tips to help you work out what is available.
Firstly, straight bets are considered to be a more of a long-term kind of bet, and while they’re unlikely to earn a considerable sum immediately, these types of bets entail less risk and can build up over time.
Parlay betting is more of a chance to win more significant payouts in a shorter time, and these types of options are more common and seen as a regular bet.
Teaser bets are often utilised and presented in a variety of ways. There isn’t a lot of money to be made on teasers since they pay less. However, they can be an excellent method of “hedging” betting. In the end, the round-robin bet is a combination of payouts from straight betting and parlay payouts. These can often keep you on the line for a longer period of time or provide a fast payout.
The most straightforward and basic football betting choice is to go with straight bets, which are exactly as they sound: straightforward. You choose a team or an over/under that you like, then put your money on it. These straight bets are more common when you’re finding your feet in the sports betting world and/or don’t know teams and the sport too well
For instance, you would prefer the Reds 5 points against the Blues. If you were to bet on football in Ghana and inform the sportsbook that you want 50 units for the Reds. If the Reds do win by your estimated bet, you’ll receive your initial bet back and 45.5 units. The same applies to if you prefer an over or under. Straight bets are an option to bet so that you can participate in it all season.
The majority of handicappers opt for this option for betting, and while it isn’t the best money-making option, it’s a more reasonable and subtle approach to the sports betting world.
The money line bet is similar to the straight bet but with an added twist. If you place a bet on a football match on the money line, this is simply betting on the real winner of the game, without the spread of points. For example, if we bet on the money line, we have two options: the Reds to win the game or that the Blues are likely to beat the Reds. There are no point spreads; you only bet on wins.
This is known as the bet on the money line. There’s a distinction between these two options, however. If you choose that you want to wager on the favourite, you have to bet more than what you are likely to bring home. You’re taking away the spread, making it simpler to make a bet. If, however you choose to go with the underdog, you’re affirming that the underdog will be able to win the game, not simply covering the spread. You are likely to make more money than your stake in this scenario if it pans out the way you anticipate.
All in all, there are a few ways to partake in sports betting, but it’s always up to the individual and what responsible bet they’re able to make, along with the knowledge of the game and teams at hand.
