Bianca Buitendag Dominates at CHIKO Pro Junior
18 year old Bianca Buitendag dominated at the CHIKO Pro Junior this weekend

South African surfer, Bianca Buitendag, defeated Australian Ellie-Jean Coffey in the final of the Chiko Pro Junior held at Mereweather Beach in Newcastle, Australia on Sunday. The 18 year old from George advanced to the finals after defeating French Surfer, Johanne Defay, in their quarter-final clash and highly rated Australian Nikki van Dijk in the Semi finals. She impressed everyone by scoring a total of 16.65 out of a possible 20 against Coffey in their hard-fought final.
An extememly happy Buitendag said “Im stoked with this result. Its going to really boost my confidence going into the ASP 6-star Hunter Ports Women’s Classic next week.”
Both girls did extrememly well, but it was Bianca’s wave selection that pushed her through to a winning score. She stayed busy riding a total of 5 waves, two of which were scored in the 8.0 range, instead of waiting for bigger swells to come in like her opponent did. “I surf against these girls a lot and I know what to expect, I just tried to do my best and it worked out for me. The waves have been pumping, it’s been on fire the last few days!” She said.
Another win for the Saffas. Well done Bianca.
