One always wonders what would happen if you through a rugby star on an American Football field. Well, we finally have the answer, as former NRL fullback Jarryd Hayne finally made his debut for the San Francisco 49ers in Houston this past weekend.

The rugby league star, who earned 12 caps for Australia and 176 for the Parramatta Eels, took to the American Football field at running back after a long process of trying to make it in the NFL.

Hayne made an explosive start to his gridiron career, rushing for 53 yards (48m) with his second carry in the 49ers’ pre-season opener against the Houston Texans.

He showed his speedy acceleration, sidestepping ability, and strong fend, all of which are often underused in American Football.

Hayne’s brilliant run lead to a touchdown to tight end Garrett Celek two plays later.
