Outrageous Sidestep Literally Breaks Defender’s Ankle [Video]
Warning: the injury (and sidestep) are pretty sick.
We often refer to sidesteps as “ankle breakers”. Well, this particular piece of footwork takes that term a little too literally.
In the Holden Cup (rugby league’s national under 20 competition) match between West Tigers and Parramatta Eels, Tigers fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen actually shattered his ankle trying to change angles to defend a jump-step from an attacking player – Parramatta winger Greg Leleisiuao.
It’s clear that Leleisiuao is no stranger to some quick footwork, and was said to be renowed for his Hip Hop dancing before turning his talents to League.
