Real Madrid have had a difficult time of late, having suffered patchy-form in La Liga which sees them uncharacteristically in fourth place. This weekend, they rediscovered some of their mojo against fifth place Sevilla, though, and managed to dole out a 5-0 thumping that was concluded in within 42 minutes.

The fifth is the pick of the lot, and was the first goal for their youngster Achraf Hakimi:

While his finish is impressive, it’s the speed of their counter-attack that showed real decisiveness and quality. Ronaldo won a header which was picked up by Benzema, who returned possession to the Portuguese star, which Ronaldo drove through midfield with. After a few short passes between the two, Hakimi latched onto the final ball and finished smoothly from an acute angle.

It took a short fifteen seconds from Ronaldo winning the header before the ball was nestled in the back of the net.

The first Clasico of the season is coming up on the 23rd of December – where Real will host Barcelona at the Bernabeu, which represents an opportunity for them to claw back lost ground against the league leaders. After this result it seems they’ve hit form again at the perfect time, but will it be in time to throw a wrench into the works for Barcelona?
