This weekend brings a host of sporting action to enjoy, including a Rugby Championship encounter that’s sure to be a cracker, some Premier League action that all eyes will be on, and an unmissable Currie Cup clash that should garner your attention.

Springboks vs Wallabies
Saturday: 17:00

The Springboks will have a lot of pride to play for when they host the Wallabies at Newlands on Saturday, after coming up short by one point in Perth three weeks ago.

The squad has seen some forced changed due to injuries, with the young Teboho “Oupa” Mohoje coming in for Francois Louw, and the experienced Francois Hougaard replacing Ruan Pienaar. The Wallabies have kept their winning combination so far, but have welcomed back some talented stars such as Joe Tomane and Saia Fainga’a.

Due to the expectation for each team to rack up as many log points as possible, the game is sure to be packed full of tries.

Manchester United vs West Ham United
Saturday, 18:00

Manchester United’s troublesome campaign will be further tested when they meet West Ham on Saturday.

West Ham United should fear a resurgent backlash from Man United’s humbling 5-3 defeat to Leicester City, despite travelling with confidence after a convincing 3-1 win over Liverpool.

Manchester United will have the home-ground advantage which will make them favourites, but West Ham’s defence has proven solid this season, and a draw would be a good outcome for Sam Allardyce’s men.

Golden Lions vs Griquas
Saturday, 15:00

Griquas will face a tough task in Kimberley trying to contain the Golden Lions who come off back-to-back bonus-point victories. The hosts, however, have claimed big scalps this season and will look to repeat this feat in the hope of keeping alive their faint semifinal hopes.

The home team’s defence, in particular, will have to be solid to achieve this as the Golden Lions have scored an impressive 30 tries in their seven matches up to now, while their pack will also have their work cut out as the Johannesburg team’s forwards have laid a good foundation up front.

Form aside, the visitors will take comfort from the fact that they have won five of the last seven matches between the teams, with two of these wins being in Kimberley.

There are too many games on saturday. I’m not complaining but I have work to do. The BPL starts with a derby and ends with a derby (on saturday). LFC vs Everton kicks the weekend off and Arsenal vs Spurs rounds off saturdays games. In between that all of the other top teams are playing. What a day of football, topped off with a Springbok Test and hopefully a Lions and Chelsea win!

3/3 for me. Bokke pulled off a win (at times were looking shakey), Lions hammered Griquas and Chelsea saw off Villa 3 – 0!
