There’s no denying that the 2023 Rugby World Cup pool stage has been the most competitive and exciting of them all, and none more so than Pool B, known as the ‘Pool of Death’.

The Springboks, Ireland, Scotland, Tonga, and Romania have been battling it out, but, with all due respect to Tonga and Romania, it was always going to be a three-horse race between South Africa and the Six Nations giants. The problem is that only two can proceed.

Now, with the Pool looking pretty tightly contested, with one more game hanging in the balance (the anticipated clash between Scotland and Ireland), there are a few ways in which the pool standings could pan out.

It gets a little confusing, but Hakatime Rugby (who has a great channel on YouTube) has given a fantastic breakdown of the multiple permutations that could transpire after the final pool games.
