6 Sport Matches You Can’t Afford to Miss this Weekend
Here are the must-watch encounters coming your way this weekend!

Super Rugby got off to a cracking start this past weekend, but now it’s time for the Aussies and Kiwis to get in on the action too! Alongside the Sanzaar rivalries, Premier League and La Liga see some big encounters lined-up. To say sports fans are getting some serious love this weekend is an understatement; but let’s look at the top 6 matches you can’t afford to miss:
Crusaders v Chiefs (Super Rugby)
Saturday, 08:35
Super Rugby’s colossal New Zealand rivalry kicks off this weekend when the defending champions play host to the Chiefs. While the Chiefs have looked good in pre-season trials, the Crusaders are always a tough prospect in Christchurch and will likely prove too clinical once again.
Predicted Result: Crusaders by 10
Bulls v Hurricanes (Super Rugby)
Saturday, 17:15
The Bulls made huge strides in 2017 and will continue to grow in 2018, however, they face a tough challenge when the Hurricanes roll into Pretoria. Mitchell’s Bulls side is full of some exciting young talent and experience too, but the Hurricanes’ forward pack and backline is littered with world-class All Blacks that thrive in dry conditions. The ‘Canes should steal this one.
Predicted Result: Hurricanes by 3
Scotland v England (Six Nations)
Saturday, 18:45
England’s start to the Six Nations was a shaky one against Wales, but Eddie Jones’ side will be looking to rack up a second win when they take on Scotland at Murrayfield. The Scots have also been impressive, but defensive frailties do exist; so England’s tactical attack will likely take advantage of that to slip a try or two through.
Predicted Result: England by 5.
Sevilla v Atletico Madrid (La Liga)
Sunday, 21:45
Atletico Madrid have rapidly ascended the La Liga log over the past month, courtesy of their own improved form, and Barcelona enduring two successive draws in the league. Atletico now sit in second place, only seven points behind Barcelona, and another seven points ahead of their city rivals Real. A trip to Sevilla, who are in fifth place, will be a test of their improved form. Sevilla managed an impeccable performance against Manchester United in midweek, and they’ll likely fancy their chances against Atletico who have played better football of late but aren’t scoring prolifically. Antoine Griezmann hasn’t managed to rediscover his great form from last season, but he’ll need to step up in games like these if Atletico are going to push Barcelona down to the wire.
Predicted Result: Sevilla 2 – 1 Atletico Madrid
Manchester United v Chelsea (Premier League)
Sunday, 16:05
Despite Manchester United being second on the log, they’re busy looking over their shoulders as Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham are all within four points of the Red Devils. Jose Mourinho’s tepid tactics have been criticised all season, and his side put in another disappointing performance in midweek against Sevilla in the Champions League, while Barcelona came rather close to inflicting a defeat on Barcelona. The confidence going into this match will definitely lie with Chelsea, not only because of their impressive performance in midweek, but also because Manchester United’s form of late has been declining rapidly. The Red Devils have injuries in defence, a fatigued midfield, and a disjointed attack – all factors that will make Antonio Conte feel like snatching a win at the Theatre of Dreams is a distinct possibility.
Predicted Result: Manchester United 0 – 2 Chelsea
Liverpool v West Ham (Premier League)
Saturday, 17:00
Liverpool have the benefit of playing West Ham a full 24 hours before the massive grudge match between Manchester United and Chelsea, which means with a victory against the Hammers, they’ll leapfrog United into second spot. Their last outing against the Hammers at the London Stadium ended with a resounding 4-1 victory to Liverpool, so they’ll feel confident of achieving another victory, especially after their 5-0 thumping of Porto in their Champions League fixture last week. The Reds are in fine form, with Mo Salah being their standout player, and with Manchester United’s severe dip in form Liverpool have an opportunity to climb higher up the table should United fail to win against Chelsea.
Predicted Result: Liverpool 4 – 0 West Ham
