Usain Bolt to Kickstart Pro Football Career?
Has a pro clubbed nabbed the fastest man in the world?
Those who are familiar with Usain Bolt will likely know that Jamaican sprinting legend is an avid football fan and follower of Manchester United, and he’s harboured a desire to play pro football for quite some time.
He’s recently retired from athletics, and at 31 years of age, he isn’t a spring chicken anymore, but there’s no denying he’s a peak athlete. Considering Connor McGregor’s recent foray into boxing, is it possible Bolt will try and line up another big time sporting cross over?
He’s had a standing offer to train with Bundesliga club and current Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund, arranged by his and Dortmund’s sponsor Puma. He has yet to take them up on it due to a hamstring injury he’s recovering from, but the 100m record-holder says he’s determined to give it a shot once he’s fit again.
His passing in this video doesn’t seem all that impressive, but once Dortmund put him through his paces, they’ll be able to see what level he’s really at. He admits it’s a long shot and he won’t embarrass himself, but it’s clearly a goal he feels like he wants to achieve.
Can Usain Bolt make the jump to professional football, or will he drop out of that race once he realises what it takes? Let us know what you think in the comments below and tweet us at @MenStuffZA!
