Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong – the cruel yet rewarding mistress of the arcades. This barrel-throwing monkey simulator has caused many headaches and happy moments, and has also become the platform to flaunt world records, and its most prestigious has now been broken, again.

Competitive gamer Robbie Lakeman has managed to finally smash a four-year-old record by racking up 1,141,800 points during his session.

Lakeman’s score is 3,200 points better than Hank Chien, who held the record for four years.

Donkey Blog reports that Lakeman’s own Donkey Kong quest started two-and-a-half years ago with a simple bet that challenged him to crack the top ten or make it to the “kill screen,” a glitch that automatically ends the game. He’s streamed his attempts live on Twitch over the past couple of years, but this week, he opted to play alone to relieve the pressure.
