Ahead of the Bledisloe test that will be played for the opening round of the Rugby Championship this weekend, it’s only fitting to take a look back at one of the greatest Bledisloe battles in history – often called the “The Greatest Game of Rugby Ever Played”

At Sydney’s Stadium Australia, in front of a world record 110,000 people, the Australian and New Zealand teams played went head-to-head in a match that made the outcome impossible to call until the final whistle.

After just eight minutes the All Blacks were leading by an unbelievable 24 to 0. Miraculously, the Wallabies came back and were leading 35 to 34 when, in the dying moments of the game, the great All Black winger Jonah Lomu scored the winning try.
